Our 2nd Annual Ugly Sweater Holiday Mixer took place at Waypoint Public on December 13th. It was an evening filled with great food and drinks, colorful sweaters, raffle prizes, and donations for one of our favorite nonprofits.
Guests were encouraged to bring donations of toiletry items such as deodorant, tampons, and wash cloths to donate to Think Dignity’s Fresh Start Showers program. Their mobile shower unit helps provide San Diego’s homeless population the basic dignity of a clean shower. Those who brought toiletry donations received a free raffle ticket! Both donations from the raffle as well as 10% of the proceeds from our food and drinks at Waypoint Public were donated to Think Dignity.
Along with lots of mingling and eating, attendees took part in games and even an impromptu ugly sweater fashion show. Announcing their name then strutting their stuff down the aisle between our tables, each participant was cheered on before we took a vote. Our best sweater winner was Karl Maes of San Diego Rotaract who received a $50 Waypoint Public gift card, a Pub Crawl for Polio t-shirt, a Rotaract bumper sticker, and a Rotary International scarf.
Our three rounds of raffle prizes included a $10 gift card for The Local in Pacific Beach, Passion Planners, a Rotaract shot glass, sticker, and bumper sticker, a Waypoint Public t-shirt and beer coozies, a snowflake wine stopper, and a set of holiday drink coasters.
Thank you to the friendly and accommodating staff at Waypoint Public, Chelsea Richardson for attending as a Think Dignity ambassador, and everyone who attended for supporting us and Think Dignity!
